The park is theoretically open all year round from 6am to 6pm. In practice, it is almost impossible to enter during the rainy season, from November to April. If you stay outside the park, you will have to pay the entrance fee at Chongwe Gate, the main entrance. It is an 80 km track from the Kafue River where the road and ferry are located. Entrance, overnight and conservation fees are included in the price of luxury lodges, while self-drive 4x4s will be charged a camping fee and entrance fees.
