Nicknamed the Selmashi (according to the name of the company), or more simply the yellow and blue, the players of the FK Rostov now have the pride of evolving in one of Russia's best teams, which plays of course in the First League. However, this has not always been the case: accustomed to feedback between Division 2 and 3 Soviet, the club will never play in USSR championship, but instead hisse in Russian championship for the 1992 season. Despite a few passages in D 1, it has been maintained since then. In 2016/2017, the club was selected for the first time in the UEFA Champions League, coming second from the Russian championship. It is distinguished by a 4-1 at home against Ajax Amsterdam, which allows them to go into group phases, where they confront in particular the legendary Bayern Munich, which wins 5-0 in the run, but loses 2-3 against Rostov in the back, at home. Thus, the Selmashi seem particularly successful when playing at home, in their Olimp -2 stadium, former Roststelmash stadium. It remains to be seen what it will give when they evolve, after the World Cup, in the new Rostov-Arena!
