To vary the pleasures a little, spend an evening in this very good Uzbek restaurant in the centre of Rostov. The oriental (even orientalist) decoration is very neat, delicate and colourful, the staff is friendly and the dishes are refined. You really have to taste the royal plov (Shah plov in VO): it's a sweet and saffron plov, with all the necessary pieces of lamb, carrots (orange and yellow) and dried fruits, but it's special to be cooked and served wrapped in a fine and crunchy paste. A plov en croûte, if you like!
