On the way to the Barva volcano, you will pass through the small village of Santa Lucia de Heredia. It exudes rural tranquility like many of the villages in the province of Heredia, but it is the only one of them to have a museum. The picturesque Museum of Popular Cultures is housed in the former residence of President Alfredo Gonzalez Flores, who came to power in 1914 and was overthrown by a coup d'état in 1917. A visit to the museum will allow you to learn more about Costa Rican traditions through its exhibits that relate the popular culture of the period from the late 19th to the early 20th century
