The provincial capital is only a small, very quiet town, which is cut off from the country. The airport and shops are located near the beach, while beautiful residential neighbourhoods are located on the hill overlooking the city. On the right of the beach we see the wharf from which the wood cut in the province is embarked. There is not much to see or to do here, apart from surfing the villages around, from October to April. Visas can be obtained in one day at the Indonesian consulate in Vanimo, although it is more prudent to obtain it in France prior to departure. The formalities for leaving the country are simple but may be more complicated on the Indonesian side. Papua wishes to avoid at all costs the contamination of its flora by various diseases or invasive plants originating in Asia. Therefore, all fresh products will be examined in particular if you arrive in Jayapura.
