In front of Alotau, 45 minutes by boat, is a nice village that offers an excellent dive around the Muscoota, a charcoal boat that sank here in 1946. With 5 to 10 kinas, you can see giant eels at the west end of the beach and, with a guide (which can be recruited on the beach), you can walk in the surrounding forests and hills.
