No is a magnificent village in the Banco region, only a few kilometres from the border of Burkina Faso. In the heart of the village there is a huge sacred tree on which sacrifices are still made, because in this region, the animism is very present, not to say ubiquitous. For example, the Yorosso region has many masks of masks. That of No is particularly spectacular. Every year in March, a generation of the village (for example all the men born in 1974) rises in the surrounding hills, accompanied by the elders, to follow an initiation and make their masks. When a month later they masqués in the village, this is the beginning of a week of dance and festivities. Close to Dogon country, the Yorosso region is worth a visit, for its hilly landscape, its few cliffs and its authentic villages. A region that has been bypassed by tourism, which keeps its authenticity intact.
