This is one of the most remote and typical areas of Borneo. These high plateaus border Indonesia and take their name from the Kelabit tribe. A majority in the region, they have been displaced several times due to clashes with other tribes or the demands of the economic world. Today, massive deforestation threatens their habitat, and while some progress in living conditions is evident, only the development of responsible tourism can preserve their way of life. Hire a guide to discover this high-altitude plateau and the charming villages that preserve its rich cultural heritage.
