Near Umm ar-Rasas, you can also visit the archaeological site of Lehun, 7 kilometers east of Dibhan. This ancient Roman garrison was part of the Limes Arabicus, a series of defensive posts built to protect the boundaries of the Roman Empire from the 'barbarians'. It has been the subject of recent excavations by a team of Belgian and Jordanian archaeologists. They were fruitful, as they unearthed remains ranging from prehistoric times to the Ottoman occupation. Among the most important remains are the remains of a Bronze Age village, a Roman temple and a Nabataean temple.
