HACIENDA UAYAMÓN
Hacienda that fell into the hands of the pirate Laurens de Graff before becoming one of the most prosperous in the region thanks to the diversity
Founded in the 16th century, the hacienda fell into the hands of the pirate Laurens de Graff before becoming one of the most prosperous in the region thanks to the diversity of its production: livestock, corn, sugar cane, palo de tinte, and henequen. At the beginning of the 20th century, under the leadership of the Carvajal family, the farm was transformed: electricity, school, clinic and one of the first train stations in the state. Then the Revolution liberated the workers, the complex was ransacked and fell into oblivion before being transformed into a magnificent luxury hotel of the Marriott chain.
