For the dark tourism lovers who want to live a very disturbing experience, the operator Parque EcoAlberto proposes a night tour quite unique in its kind, but whose concept can disturb. The concept? To make travelers aware of the dangers of illegal immigration. That night, you play the role of an illegal immigrant trying to cross the Rio Grande River in a 17 km long rugged terrain full of obstacles. In a chaotic simulation, between the screaming of police sirens, bandits, narcos and fake border patrol agents, not to mention the barbed wire and steep slopes to climb, you are led to learn more about this frightening situation that more than 100,000 illegal migrants endure every year. The caminata nocturna (night walk) begins with a motivational speech where the facilitator explains that this experience will not be easy: it is however used to demonstrate the complexity of migration issues as well as the problems of security, violence and exclusion that it generates. The tourism agency invites anyone with an interest in the situation of Mexican migrants to come and experience a painful but inevitably informative and enriching experience. It should be noted that since its creation in 2004, the Hñähñu community that organizes this dystopian performance has been able to benefit from the financial and cultural spin-offs that this project has generated.
