The Hakka (the «host people») have largely immigrated to South-East Asia and the West. Evicted from their original lands from the Yellow River regions from the third century, they found refuge predominantly in the south Fujian, but also in Guangdong and other neighboring provinces. Their houses, these famous tulou that are found in the south of the Fujian, consist of round towers (sometimes square) in the ground, about twenty meters high.
