A church with beautiful frescoes by Franz Anton Zeiller.

This imposing church dominates the town. The parish church of St. Alban in Matrei in Osttirol is the largest church in the region. It is dedicated to St. Albano of Mainz and was consecrated in 1789. Following various alterations, it is now mainly in Baroque style. The beautiful frescoes are the work of Franz Anton Zeiller. There are also frescoes on the façade of the presbytery representing the four cardinal virtues.
