80 kilometres from Loma Plata, Chaco Lodge is a private nature reserve of 2,500 hectares, which is home to the largest salt lagoon in the Central Chaco, a body of water of more than 400 hectares, much appreciated by migratory birds (flamingos, storks, ducks, swans...), who land in winter to breed. The reserve is classified as a Ramsar Site (Wetland of International Importance) and IBA (Important Bird Area). Three camping areas, a viewpoint and trails are set up to discover this unique ecosystem, and perhaps come across a puma, a tapir, or an anteater... 4x4 access essential, except in dry weather. Reservation with the owner, Norbert Epp (✆ 0981 223 974).
