It is one of the largest national parks in the eastern region with 93 612 ha. Created in 1998, it bears the name of one of the rivers that traverse it. These rivers are very clean and clear, and over 100 species of fish live there. The vegetation is of cerrado type, with wet meadows and numerous rocky hills and peaks. The park is expected to protect half of the country's mammal species and 428 species of birds. It is very isolated, 180 km from Concepción. Access: contact SEAM in Asunción.
