A little taste of Iguazú Falls! This 40-metre high and 120-metre wide waterfall, the largest in Paraguay, flows into the Río Paraná, amidst lush vegetation, characteristic of the Atlantic forest of High Paraná. The Saltos del Monday is made up of three large main waterfalls that can be admired for hours. Even if they are not as impressive as the nearby Iguazú Falls, they are much less crowded, especially during the week! Two ecotourism complexes allow you to blend into this splendid landscape: the Salto Monday Park Boutique, which offers several viewpoints, and the Parque Aventura Monday, facing the falls, but a little further back, for another panorama. The two complexes offer "adventure" activities, more or less sporting (rafting, zip line...), for the whole family. Los Saltos Monday is located 10 km south of Ciudad del Este, in Presidente Franco, in the municipal park Los Saltos del Río Monday. Bus access is a bit complicated, but not insurmountable. From the city centre, take one of the 3 Fronteras buses, "Monday" or "Matiauda" (green indicating "Pdte Franco"), which pass every 30 minutes or so. They leave you on Monday Avenue, where you should look for the sign saying "Saltos Monday", then walk down 1 km to one of the two parks. There are agencies in Ciudad del Este that offer the excursion, but it is also possible to get there by taxi (the rate is negotiable depending on the waiting time on site). Count around 150 000 Gs from the city centre and back, with one hour on the spot).
