MUSEO AIMÉ BONPLAND

The Aimé Bonpland Museum is located in front of the park, in a colonial house that served as a school during the reduction period. The great botanist from La Rochelle, a prisoner of Dr. Francia who saw him as a spy, was confined to Santa Maria de Fe for ten years, between 1921 and 1931. The museum inaugurated in 2015 is the initiative of Denis Vène, former French Ambassador to Paraguay (2004-2007). It was in his house that the Aimé Bonpland Museum was set up. It includes two rooms on the life of Bonpland and a botanical garden at the back.
