The museum is located in the house where the famous guitarist Agustín Barrios Mangoré (1885-1944) strummed his first strings. He lived there with his parents until he was 14. This beautiful 19th century house has retained its structure, with high ceilings, original woodwork and frescoes. The artists Gil Alegre Núñez and Sebastiana Galeano bought the house in 1994. They made a small museum in honor of Mangoré. Most of the paintings are by Gil Alegre. His workshop is in the back, in the garden.
