With the mainland, the island is connected to the capital by ferry five times a week from Piraeus (7-hour crossing) with Blue Star Ferries or Hellenic Seaways. She is also connected twice a week with Kavala (12 hours). To the other islands, most of the boats serve Lesbos before leaving in the opposite direction for Piraeus. Chios is also connected to Samos and Patmos in particular.
Not to mention its proximity to Turkey: in summer, the island is connected to the Turkish port of Çeşme at least five times a week by Greek and Turkish ferries (one hour).
