Kashobwe is located in the north of the Kasenga territory, on the left bank of the Luapula river that forms the border with Zambia, some 350 kilometers from Lubumbashi. Since 2005, this rather isolated village has become a model rural settlement. This ambitious pilot project was initiated by the province's governor, Moïse Katumbi, as part of his "post-mines" agricultural policy. He therefore decided to set an example by setting up the project in his home village. But beyond the agricultural aspect, Kashobwe is a global project that also includes a social component (schools, hospitals, public lighting, Internet access, etc.). It is also developing a significant tourism component. In addition to a hotel and bungalows, the site includes a conference center, restaurant, bar, discotheque, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, sports hall, spa... Activities include tennis, horseback riding, pedal boating, jet-skiing, pirogue fishing, river cruises and trips to Lake Moero. The site has an airstrip for small aircraft (45 minutes from Lubumbashi). And the roads have been resurfaced, so access by car from Lubumbashi is no problem (4-hour drive). But be sure to check security conditions beforehand. This has not prevented the development of this tourist project, with more and more visits being recorded.
