Formerly Lake Leopold II, the Mayi-Ndombe lake in the northern part of the province is accessible by inland waterway to its main port Inongo or by air. From Dundgobi you can reach by road Nioki, Mushie and all the Onatra ports on the Congo River. Lake May-Ndombe is a residual lake of 2 315 km ² of low depth. The very dark but pure colour of the lake's waters comes from all these alluvial alluvial deposits by rivers from the deep forests of northern and Equateur rivers. Heavy storms and powerful waves are not uncommon on this lake, otherwise enough fish.
