The therapeutic virtues of the thermal baths of Bagni di Lucca, where the Serchio River and the Lima stream meet, were discovered at the end of the Middle Ages, and they became a popular holiday destination after the French Revolution (Lord Byron, Giacomo Puccini, Alexandre Dumas, Elisa Bonaparte... they stayed there). Their main feature is the two caves, which have natural temperatures ranging from 40 to 45°C.

Adjacent to these bathsis the first casino in Europe, dating back to 1839, where roulette was invented.
