Travel Guide Touzounine

Km 80. City founded by the Idrissides and prosperous at the time when it was called Tamdult, Touzounine was an important stage on the road of the caravans which traded between North Africa and Black Africa while passing by the inevitable Mauritania. Some beautiful residences, with gardens and mechouar, still testify of this past opulence. From now on, in addition to the traditional activities, some plantations are cultivated there whose green shoots irrigated by a system of canalization surprise and contrast sharply with the surrounding landscape, desert and desolate, entirely beige and rocky, devoid of vegetation but not of charm.
