Interactive museum featuring life-size reconstructions of famous ships, antique weapons and navigation instruments
This interactive museum, inaugurated in 2011, exhibits three life-size reconstructions of famous ships: Magellan's Nao Victoria (the only one to circumnavigate the globe), the James Caird (Ernest Shackleton's ship, which achieved a real feat by reaching the South Georgia islands in 1916) and the schooner Ancud, the mythical Chilote ship that took possession of the Magellan Strait on behalf of Chile in 1843. We discover the life on board these three legendary ships, as well as weapons and old navigation instruments. A beautiful visit.
