This not-for-profit multi-purpose cultural center is located in an emblematic building that once housed the destitute. It has been in operation since 1957. Today, in addition to its role as a library housing over 15,000 books in English and Spanish, the facility also offers a variety of workshops, such as music, art and yoga classes, as well as a book club and English and Spanish lessons. Nestled in the heart of the peaceful village of La Cieneguita, some twenty minutes from San Miguel, lies the "Frog House". This astonishing property is the work of Anado McLauchlin and her partner, historian Richard Schultz, who share their lives between Mexico and the United States. Take a walk in this beautiful garden dating back to 1904. The ornamentation style of the garden is supposedly French, but when you come from areas with temperate climate, you are rather struck by the abundance of tropical vegetation. A little higher on the hill, when you leave the garden, you will find old lagoons and a small chapel. This place is known as El Chorro, because it is said that in this place the first settlers discovered an important stream, which made the foundation of the city possible.
