Pyramid of the Sun, one of the oldest buildings on the site and by far the most imposing in Teotihuacan

The Pyramid of the Sun is astronomically aligned so that it faces the sun exactly on the summer solstice. It is one of the oldest buildings on the site, and by far the most imposing: composed of five staggered bodies, it rests on a base of 220 m by 225 m, reaches a height of 64 m, and contains one millionm3 of bricks. At the beginning of the 20th century, experts restored the pyramid by removing a 7 m thick layer of stones and stucco. It is estimated that the construction of the pyramid dates back to 200 BC.

Magnifique pyramide du soleil
Magnifique et imposante, la Pyramide du Soleil suscite le respect et l’émotion. Si elle ne s’escalade pas, un petit promontoire sur le devant dont l’ascension est autorisée, permet d’avoir d’autres perspectives et de réaliser de jolies photos amateur.

Haute de 70m, et avec ses 248 marches, la pyramide a été découverte au début du XXème siècle, ensevelie sous de nombreuses tonnes de terre et de gravats.
