Located at the foot of the Col Pass and the Hourquette d'Ancizan, this artificial lake with an area of 10 hectares is 1100 metres above sea level. A true haven of peace in nature, surrounded by one of the most beautiful pine forests of the Pyrenees (which is named «small Canada»), Payolle is a privileged place for outdoor activities as varied as mountain biking, orientation race, cross country skiing and other dog sled rides, not forgetting the fishing circuit. It is not uncommon to change the parapentistes when conditions are attached, unless the sharp eye of the naturalists distinguishes some deer or isard at the edge of the sapinière.

La forêt environnante permet un pique nique à l'ombre l'été venu. Le tour du lac permet de visiter ce lieu qui propose des logements dans des appartements avec vue imprenable sur le lac, ou encore des cabanes branchées sur les pins voisins du lac, mais au calme. L'hiver, nous adorons le parcourir avec des skis de fonds entr'autres.
De plus, plusieurs ballades sont réalisables par tous en fonction de sa forme.
