Kataco is in the heart of the Bagataye, the Baga country. Surrounded by rice fields and palm groves and not far from the mangrove, this small village with mud huts located east of Kamsar, towards Bintimodia, offers a warm welcome to intrepid walkers who venture there. There is no problem to find lodging here, just ask the village chief or the father of the Catholic mission. The day can be spent walking in the shade of the palm trees or along the river to discover the activities of the inhabitants. In the evening, mix with the village life. You may have the chance to attend a traditional ceremony, as Baga country is a region where masks are still present at important moments in the life of the community. Remember that the Nimba mask, so famous in Guinea, is of Baga origin, as are the caryatid drums.
