Located about twenty kilometers north of Morón, beyond the laguna de la Leche, the island of Turiguanó is connected to the mainland by a roadside median (pedraplen), a haven for pink flamingos and blue crabs. This amazing village, built in the early 1960s for farmers, was inspired by the Dutch communes. Its sixty or so red-roofed houses are scattered on the slopes of the Loma del Pavo (the turkey hill). For many years, one of the best breeds of cattle on the island was raised and developed here: santa gertrudis. Recommended stopover!
