The plantation offers a unique experience for travelers to southwest Cambodia: it's a Kampot pepper farm, considered the world's finest pepper by chefs and gourmets for over a century. The farm is built around a superb building that used to be a monks' refectory. Visits to the plantation are organized to discover the different stages in the cultivation of pepper and other spices. THE PLANTATION OFFERS A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE TO VISITORS The south-west of Cambodia is a peaceful, rural countryside. The cities of Kampot and Kep-sur-Mer are authentic places full of history. A visit to a pepper plantation is a must in the region. Explaining the history and specificity of the Kampot terroir helps to understand why Le Poivre de Kampot has been voted the best pepper in the world by chefs and gourmets for over a century. Black pepper is used daily in food, but few people know how it grows and why the peppercorns are different colours. La Plantation is the perfect place to find out more. La Plantation can receive individual or group visitors, with a program of discovery of an agrotourism environment and its activities.
Nous hésitions à ne visiter qu'une ferme plus petite et nous ne regrettons pas d'être passés aussi à La Plantation car les projets sont parfois différents et notre visite à La Plantation nous a permis d'acquérir les connaissances sur le poivre.
Même si l'expérience de la visite n'en est pas amoindrie, on regrettera les prix élevés du poivre et le fait que les locaux ne peuvent pas se permettre de payer autant pour du poivre, ce qui est assez triste étant donné que c'est une culture locale.
