ST. DIMITRI CHURCH

Uglich was the scene of a major and tragic event in the history of Russia: the assassination in 1591 of little Dmitri Ivanovich, the last representative of the Riourikid dynasty. On the spot, a church is dedicated to him: Saint-Dimitri "on the Blood-Verse". The version of the conspiracy orchestrated by Boris Godunov keeps the preference of many historians.

In the church of St. Dimitri, a fresco depicts the version of the assassination, and it should be noted that it is quite rare that a historical fact is chosen as the subject of a fresco.
