Close to Rostov, there is a monastery-village in its pious rusticity. A central alley and a superb kremlin, on the riverside, justifies this detour on the road to Ouglitch. Borissoglebski, the oldest and most powerful of all the fortified constructions of the Golden Ring, was besieged for two years by the Poles, without result.
