Tsuboya is a rather picturesque area where traditional pottery (tsuboya-yaki) is made. This type of ceramics exists since 1682. We can find animal motifs, flowers or geometrical shapes with a red or green background. It is more of an earthenware, fired at low temperature. There are two kinds of earthenware: jōyaki for everyday objects and arayaki for funeral urns. There are still a good twenty kilns in operation. The visit of the district is pleasant thanks to the small open stalls.
