SENGAN-EN

Also called Isoteien, this garden is a Japanese landscape garden that runs along the coast facing Sakurajima. In fact, the volcano and the bay play a role in the design of the place. The garden was built in 1658 by the Shimazu clan, a very powerful clan. The garden includes water features, shrines, a bamboo grove, and a residence, the Iso residence. The present building dates from the 1880s. The absolutely grandiose setting of this place invites each visitor to contemplate this nature, mastered for the garden, wild for the rest.
