In this hamlet, a 20-minute bus ride from Ogimachi village, visitors can see pottery by Kawai Kanjirō, Bernard Leach or Munakata Shikō in the Gyotoku-ji temple. Also visit Iwasake, which was the home of a gunpowder producer (www.iwaseke.jp / 9am-5pm (4pm in winter) / ¥300). Because of its isolation, the area was chosen by the Kaga clan for gunpowder production. In winter, special lighting illuminates the Iwase family home and Gyotoku-ji temple, to the delight of visitors. The atmosphere becomes magical and enchanting.
