This national park is the biggest in Japan with its 2310 km². Some Japanese prefectures are even smaller. Famous for its flora, it is also famous for its fauna with many brown bears and deer in freedom. It is home to several peaks over 2000 m such as Asahi-Dake (2290 m), Tomura'ushi-yama (2141 m) and Nipesotu-yama (2013 m). Sōunkyō Onsen, Tenninkyō Onsen and some others, are famous ski resorts. Established in December 1934, this park is a famous destination for hiking and camping. The place is also enjoyed for viewing the autumn foliage, momiji, and snowfall.
