It is the only museum in the world with a permanent collection of kamigata ukiyo-e. Kamigata was the name given to the region encompassing Kyoto and Ōsaka during the Edo period (1603-1867). As forukiyo-e, it is a woodcut printing technique that emerged during the same period. These representations give an authentic image of the period. Many of them are yakusha-e and represent kabuki actors. The shop offers illustrated books on the pictorial genres presented in the museum.
