PROVINCIAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

This museum displays archaeological material from all over the region, from Prehistory to Roman times. Among the highlights are a torso of kouros in Parian marble (6th century BC), polychrome architectural terracottas from the temple of Apollo Liceo in Metaponte, the Tempietto di Garguso in white marble from the ^5th century BC, the Persephone, an alabaster statuette from the 6th century BC, and inscriptions in Greek, Messapian and Latin.
