This triangular square behind the Torre del Reloj served as a slave market
Formerly known as Plaza de la Yerba, this triangular square behind the Torre del Reloj was used as a slave market. At the end of the 19th century, it was used as a place to parkhorse-drawn carriages, hence its current name. It is still there that you can take a carriage tour of the historic center. The houses with balconies overhang the arches where the vendors of dulces (sweets) shelter from the sun, it is the famous Portal de los Dulces. Be careful, after a certain hour, the square becomes a place of prostitution.
