The neo-Gothic Clock Tower is an important landmark in the city
The Boca del Puente, Puerta del Reloj, and more recently Torre del Reloj, is the main entrance to the walled city. The Clock Tower stands on the site of the old bridge that spanned the moat separating the old town from Getsemani. It is an important landmark in the city. The gateway, made up of three arches, was built by the military engineer Juan de Herrera in the 18th century. The clock was added at the end of the 19th century. The current clock was imported from Switzerland in the 1950s.
