Constituting the southernmost part of the Magadan region, the Koni Peninsula belongs to the Magadansky Reserve and includes subarctic fauna (dwarf trees). Bears, foxes, marmots and many other fabulous marine creatures (sea lions, seals, etc.) live here. One can hope to see large cetaceans approaching the coast. During the spawning season (June-August), Pacific salmon swim up rivers. Koni also preserves interesting vestiges of human habitation from the Stone Age. The reserve has a visitor centre and an interesting museum (magterra.ru).
