FESTIVAL MINAS Y ABRIL

Every year in April, Minas, the capital of the department of Lavalleja, hosts the Minas y Abril festival, a traditional celebration that takes place over three days in the Rodó park. This festival brings together locals and tourists to the sound of guitars to admire the gaucho art. The program begins with the gauchos ' parade through the streets of the city and continues in the park with folkloric dances, handicraft fairs, plays, contests and workshops.
