LLAMADAS

At Carnival, some 40 comparsas compete in a lively and colorful parade through the streets of the Afro-Uruguayan neighborhoods of Barrio Sur and Palermo. Competition rages between groups of drummers, dancers and flag bearers from all over the city. The musicians give their best by playing their drums with force. To fully enjoy the show, you can rent a chair or stand behind the barriers. This parade is undoubtedly the highlight of the Carnival.
