Church, the oldest religious building in the north of the country, and museum giving an overview of the history and culture of Ovambo.
The Finnish missionary Martti Rautanen was the first to Christianize Namibia in 1880. Much loved by the locals, he was soon given a nickname: Nakambale. His body lies in a thatched church with a number of tribal chiefs. It is the oldest religious building in the north of the country. The Nakambale museum gives an insight into the history and culture of the Owambo and allows you to taste the flavours of the local cuisine: the famous caterpillars.
