The Kunene River is one of the few rivers in Namibia that flows all year round. North of the Kaokoland Mountains, it suddenly widens before cascading down from its waterfalls Upstream, sheltered from the current, the calm of a basin, in the hollow of the black rocks, encourages bathing. The benefits of the water regenerate bodies tired from the tremors of the journey. But the eye must remain attentive to the many aquatic inhabitants: the fresh flesh, immersed, is quickly within reach of the jaws of the crocodiles on the look-out. Camping at the edge of the falls is a must: an absolutely exceptional site, still preserved from mass tourism.
