Only 10 minutes drive from the city centre, located in an old vineyard, this charming lodge has several well-designed rooms with a unique style and with all the comforts you may need after a long flight or several days of wandering around the country. Television, wi-fi, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge and fan in all rooms. Some rooms have a balcony to make the most of the view. A central courtyard welcomes meals and of course the braai, not forgetting the swimming pool.

During my recent visit to Windhoek, I camped at Vineyards Country Lodge at Droombos, which is located just outside of Klein Windhoek. One of the standout features was that each camping site comes equipped with its own "braai" (BBQ), kitchenette, and ablutions facilities, including a toilet, sink, and shower. This convenience added a lot of comfort to our camping trip. It's important to be aware that the campsite has limited availability, and certain sites are more suitable than others, especially for those with caravans or bush wagons. I strongly recommend choosing site 1 if you're traveling with a caravan or bush wagon; it provides enough space and maneuverability. As the lodge forms part of the larger Droombos, there are ample exploring opportunities with the premises including a restaurant and bar (reviewed separately) as well as a curio shop. They also have free WiFi available at the campsites, which is a nice bonus. With a note of caution, I advise you to keep a lookout for Bamboos that might attempt to take your food while you're camping here – they can be quite resourceful. The cherry on top was the great service we received from Euhentia, Callie, and the rest of the staff. Their hospitality and willingness to assist made our stay even more enjoyable. The only downside was that the camping section felt a bit like an afterthought. However, we had a nice chat with the owner, who indicated that his future plans are to do a revamp of the camping section, so I'm excited to see what they come up with. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and definitely recommend you give them a try if you are looking for camping options close to Windhoek with private ablution facilities.

Good clean campsite with private facilities, close to Windhoek. As it is close to B6, traffic can be a problem. View from campsite is onto locked garages, so do not come for that. Restaurant and souvenir shop on site.
