Established along the Falaise cliff, Dirkou became the economic capital of the region. A significant garrison has been established there for a long time, served by a military airstrip. The old village has taken an important scale with the massive influx of migrants from the Gulf of Guinea into Transit for Libya. Venus in inhumane conditions through Le, they stay there several days, living outside anywhere and whatever, waiting to continue their epic. Dirkou is the hub for many traffic north with the lot of scourges we know: drugs, prostitution and insecurity. It is a city in motion, with a large market where there are many products from Arab countries and beer to 1 000 CFAF the bottle. The city has about 3 000 inhabitants, but with migrants destined for Libya and Europe, which are sometimes months, it has more than 6 000 people, with huge problems of sanitation and accommodation. We refuels in fuel, at Djeram, who also troubleshoots to stay, but better leave the city and go into the dunes, cleaner. It is recommended that the armed forces be known for more security when travelling in this area. There is no regular air connection on Dirkou, only the military plane comes from time to time to supply the company. Bush taxis make the daily connection between Dirdou and Bilma, or 45 km of very practicable track (one hour's drive).
