Kamsar would not be Kamsar without the Compagnie des bauxites de Guinée (CBG), which has been mining bauxite for nearly sixty years. So much so that today there are two Kamsar: on the one hand, the popular city, which stretches out lengthwise between the mangrove and the railroad, and on the other hand, the mining city located towards the estuary of the Rio Nunez and the mineral port. The contrast is striking between the popular and rather anarchic city which suffers from a lack of quality public services and infrastructure and the "CBG" city with its wide avenues lined with lawns where everything is well maintained and clean, and where all basic services are available. Living in Kamsar can be quite pleasant, but for the visitor, there is not much to see that would be worth the time.
