SAINT-NICOLAS ORTHODOX CHURCH

Built in the ^19th century, this gigantic Orthodox church is undoubtedly the city's most beautiful. The interior is decorated with frescoes and houses superb icons. It was commissioned at the time of Partition, when the population of Białystok increased with the influx of Russian settlers and civil servants. Today, the church is a reminder that Białystok is the Polish municipality with the largest Orthodox population (around 80,000).
