THE HISTORY OF THE CREATION OF THE SLUZEWIEC RACECOURSE
Until 1938 Pole Mokotowskie in Warsaw was the center of the Polish horse racing. As racing continued to grow in popularity, the need to move to larger, permanent facilities became urgent.
The search for a suitable area for the Warsaw horse racing took many years. Various locations were taken into account, including the area in Okecie (the current location of the largest airport in Poland), but Sluzewiec turned out to be far the best proposition. One of the reasons for purchasing this land was its excellent location. The first race on the Sluzewiec Racecourse was held on the 3rd of June 1939, only three months before the Second World War broke out.
